Addicted to PHP

February 6th, 2002

I fear that my journey into the new developmental foundations of Mac OS X has led me to a hopeless addiction to PHP. I’m told that it’s treatable, with a relatively short period of recovery. Lots of rest and fluids. Thankfully, the ASP sickness I had been exposed to was only temporary. Cold turkey will do just fine.

In all seriousness, though, this newly explorative non-programmer finds the server-side scripting language of PHP both intuitive (unlike some ASP syntax) and powerful. One thing that’s hard to see as anything but a benefit is its extensive portability. Standing out as a development tool which serves on Windows, Unix, and now Mac OS X, PHP is bound to grow through its solid years of maturity and the distinctly non-proprietary advantage it holds over its Microsoft counterpart.

So don’t be too surprised when the .php extension starts hanging out with the file names here. It could be addictive and contagious.

Good God, I’ll never get back into Art School.
