In my way too biased opinion, Daredevil does pass the mustard. I’ll explain more about that later as I feel deeply compelled to do so. But for the time being, I wish someone on the net would re-edit and make available a bootleg version of the film, beginning with these suggestions:

• Take out any part with narration.
• Take out the shots of the multiple Daredevil costumes in Matt’s apartment. Way too cliche.
• Take out any close up shots of DD’s cane. It’s way too hokey looking and was never shown in great detail in the comics.
• Take out the scene where sandbags magically fall out of Elektra’s ceiling. I know she’s a ninja, but c’mon.
• Take out the rape case “vengeance” scene. This is a tough call, because in many ways the scene isn’t long enough, but its inclusion is just too powerful and out of sync with the rest of the movie.

And despite all of this, there were many suprises which I very much appreciated. They offset any problems I had with the above scenes and ultimately made it enjoyable, even for someone with unrealistic expectations such as myself.
