Pagespinner 4.5 Preview
May 28th, 2003It’s encouraging to see certain things in technology not outgrowing their use. Case in point, Pagespinner. I’ve mentioned this little HTML text editor here many times and have used it over and over in countless projects since my humble beginnings as a web author.
In the short amount of time I’ve had to use it, I can tell that the 4.5 Preview sports some dandy new features, while maintaining all of its past usefulness. The new additions, such as the PHP, Shell, and Apache menus will surely be an aid to any Mac OS X web guru.
Here’s a theory that Macromedia and a bunch of others should take note of—simplicity over bloat. It gets beginners and novices alike a lot further faster. I’d still recommend this $30 piece of shareware over any other program on any other platform for beginning HTML.
As an application that I’ve fondly used over the past five years, I’m happy to see Pagespinner staying true to its roots. That being said, I just thought of a few handy missing features:
- It would be nice if a blogging feature was added into the program, so that users of pMachine, MT, and the like could cut out a few steps in making their posts.
- Since StyleSpinner is so out of date, how about a link to CSSEdit instead?
- Still waiting for a hierarchal file system, like in Homesite
- Need spell check built-in, pleeze
See, I’m so easy to please.
