A Pragmatic Observation

October 1st, 2004

Because I’m still sick, and because I really respect this guy’s blog, I’ll defer my analysis of last night’s debate by stealing an entire entry from The Pragmatist.

The Skeptic destroyed the Believer tonight. In what I think will be proven in the coming days — Senator John Kerry offered a solid and clear and optimistic comparison to a man clearly unqualified to sit in the highest office of the land. President George W. Bush failed to score a single notable point against the Prosecutor. The President’s responses had the plaintive air of a defendant trying to salvage something of his situation — Kerry indicted him on every major decision of his presidency and the President Bush offered only that “it’s hard work,” and he believes that it will end well. I actually thought for a moment that I sensed the complete destruction of a presidency and of the twisted and ancient and supernatural epistomology that has underpinned public support for his catastrophe.
