My First WordPress Theme (Paper Linen)
February 26th, 2005What you’re looking at is a shameless derivative of the now default Kubrick layout for WordPress, true, but what the hell. I haven’t seen a better looking layout yet, which is why I was using it before it became the default theme anyway.
And who knew back then that WordPress would become the de facto standard for anyone and everyone considering a migration from their old blogging software? But I guess as long as they (meaning the folks at WordPress) keep combining excellent software with free, we should expect to see a lot more of that mass exodus in the future.
In anticipation of that, at least now my site doesn’t look so much like yours.

Nice look.
Kubrick is nice. I like it and have used it as my base for all my sites. There are a lot of things I don’t like about it though. At some point, I’ll probably get around to making and releasing my own theme for it, based on Kubrick.
There are a bunch of themes… just not that many great ones for WP. I’m anxious to see the “Shuttle” project. Once the backend is looking prettier, it’ll be a GREAT package.

Nicely done.

I like the theme!
I’ve resisted the urge to spend too much time on design, mostly because I’m not much of a designer.

Just as I’ve resisted the urge to program it.
There’s a whole sordid story about how I royally mangled my local MySQL database in the process of making this theme, but I’ve decided other self-deprecating stories should probably take precedence.
Thanks for the hollaz!
